Hong Kong Disneyland Spreads Holiday Cheer with A Magical Christmas

Mickey's forecast calls for soft snowfall, carols and holiday cheer this winter as the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort presents "A Magical Christmas" from November 11 - December 31, 2006.

Like stepping into a winter fairy tale, guests will be treated to an authentic Christmas celebration with all the traditional trimmings that the Holidays bring - with, of course, a dash of Disney sparkle! Twinkling decorations, dazzling Disney-style entertainment, sumptuous dining, adorable gift ideas and Santa Claus himself all promise to inspire the yuletide spirit in every guest.

Bedecked with glittering garlands, bows and wreaths in vibrant shades of red and green, Main Street, U.S.A will pay tribute to the spirit of Christmas past as the quaint small-town stores and restaurants swing into holiday mode.

The central focus of the celebrations will be a radiant 60-foot Christmas tree located in Town Square, where every evening guests will be enthralled by the all-new "Mickey's Sing-a-Long Tree Lighting" show. Prancing and dancing reindeers and Christmas elves will lead the procession as an oversized sleigh, featuring Santa Claus, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse and all their friends, glides onto Town Square.

During the toe tapping show, with the Christmas tree as a stunning backdrop, Chip'n'Dale will invite guests to join in the fun of caroling with their favorite carol, "Jingle Bells". Mickey, wearing his winter best, will get into the spirit by leading "Deck the Halls" followed by Santa and Minnie's rendition of "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer".

Every evening at 6:15pm (6:00pm in December) one lucky family will be invited to join Mickey Mouse, Santa Claus and the gang on stage to light the Christmas tree, which will signal the start of gently falling snow and the ambient illumination of Main Street, U.S.A.

And for the first time, Santa Claus will make his home in Santa's Corner at the Opera House, presenting a magical encounter for guests eager to share their seasonal wishes with this beloved jolly fellow.

Festive Treats and Tantalizing Menus
On Main Street USA, guests will encounter sweet aromas wafting from the Market House Bakery where chefs will bake and decorate a selection of Christmas favorites including Christmas log cake, Turkey puff, Mickey ginger bread and biscuits.

For those guests looking for heartier meals, the Corner Café will present a three-course Christmas-inspired menu for lunch and dinner. The experience will start with a cream of butternut squash soup, followed by a traditional roasted turkey and shrimp fritter, and will be served with vegetable rice, roasted vegetables and pineapple salsa. And for a sweet finish to the meal, guests can indulge in hot Christmas pudding with vanilla sauce. The Corner Café Christmas Special is priced at HK108 plus 10% per person.

Across the street at Plaza Inn, the Park's signature Chinese restaurant, Christmas will take on an eastern-inspired twist as it features a winter banquet of eight succulent dishes. From "Joy to the World" (Roasted Turkey with dragon fruit salad) and "Glitter Christmas Night" (Sauteed fresh prawns with orange sauce), to "Winter Snow" (Braised vegetables with crab meat) and "Angel Gospel" (Teriyaki beef fillets with mixed mushrooms), this is a family meal fit for royalty. The Plaza Inn Christmas Menu Special is priced at HK$185 plus 10% per person.

With the festive decoration expanded to Fantasyland this year, the Royal Banquet Hall also adds to the dining fun with Christmas offerings such as smoked turkey and sweet corn salad and grilled Christmas turkey.

Magical Christmas Gifts
Special gift ideas abound throughout the Park during "A Magical Christmas" as Disney treasures small and large are destined to delight and surprise guests. Featuring over 130 winter season-only items, guests can select from glittering ornaments, soft plush toys, novelty hats, clothing and an assortment of sweet treats.

More than a hundred of the holiday gift ideas are new and exclusive to Hong Kong Disneyland including huggable plush Disney characters in Christmas-themed and winter outfits as well as silky-touch mufflers featuring Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, Mickey and Minnie.

Arts & Crafts
For those young guests eager to try their hand at making their own gifts this season, two dedicated Kid Zones in Adventureland and Fantasyland will allow imaginations to soar as they master the art of crafting sparkling gift items (open on weekends and public holidays from December 2 to 30).

Enchanting Hotels
The magic of Christmas never ends for guests staying at one of the resort's two hotels - the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel and Disney's Hollywood Hotel as decorations, Christmas trees, carolers, storytelling, scrumptious menus and special visits by Santa Claus and Goofy in his Santa outfit will ensure an immersive holiday experience like never before.

A highlight of the two hotels' festivities will be "Let's Party" where guests will learn how to create decorative and magical Christmas presents at the Arts & Crafts Workshop.

And let's dress up as Santa Claus in Santa's Training Workshop! Young guests will be taught how to greet, laugh and sing as Santa Claus. And, to be a professional Santa, guests will have to pass a series of challenges. Upon completion of the training workshop, a special certificate will be awarded for their hard work.

Young aspiring chefs also have an opportunity to attend the Christmas Home Decoration on your own where they will participate in the preparation of pancakes, gingerbread houses and other traditional Christmas goodies as treats for their parents.

5, 4, 3, 2, 1... Happy New Year!
The Hong Kong Disneyland Resort will provide the perfect backdrop for celebrating the New Year as the Park transforms into a giant dance floor with a 20-piece band and DJs spinning party tunes to ensure a night to remember.

Mickey and his pals will lead the count down on stage at midnight while a dazzling pyrotechnic display will illuminate the night's sky in a kaleidoscope of color. More food, more drink and more shopping will delight guests as the Park stays open until 12:30am.
